San Francisco by night

Downtown by night. I was on top of a parking structure just west of Columbus and got this timed exposure of the downtown/financial district skyline. The view features the ever identifiable Trans-America building in Columbus and Montgomery.

For The Birds

A little something I saw while out and about today. Not sure what kind of bird it is but I liked how it just hung out and watched the world go by.

Coit Tower - Telegraph Hill, San Francisco

Coit Tower, built in 1933, is a homage of sorts to the firefighters of San Francisco, dedicated and paid for by Lillian Coit. She was pulled from a burning building after the 1906 earthquake and this tower was built, at her bequest to "beautify the city" after she had donated one third  of her estate to the city after her death in 1929.

Jelly Fishing

I spent some time up in the San Francisco Bay Area recently, so I'll be posting some shots of my time there.

These particular pieces come from some photos I took of, among other things, some jellies at the Monterey Bay Aquarium in Monterey, California.

Tilt-Shift Photography

A quality google search could do a far better job of describing what "tilt-shift photography" is, but briefly it's a process of photo manipulation that changes the depth of field of a photograph and ends up making a full scale scene appear to be a model miniature.

Stages of A Setting Sun (On the Road)

Each photo was taken roughly 15 minutes apart along the (relative) California coast in an area somewhere between Monterey and San Jose.
Considering they were taken with my lousy camera/phone I'm pleased with how well they came out (though a little color correcting was done).

Visions of the Weekend

I went out cycling on Sunday afternoon - I do a lot of that - and had a very pleasant time. It was a rather beautiful day out and when I got to the half-way point of my ride I took a few shots. The bottom shot is a spliced panorama so it does not line up all that well, but it's close enough for jazz.

The Play of Light

I found it rather cool how an off color bottle and a muted light source could entertain me so much.

The Corner of Walk and Don't Walk

More accurately the corner of 4th and Junipero, the location of one of my favorite haunts.
This little panoramic was taken on my phone.

Vibrancy

Vibrancy, yeah I said it. It was a very green day out as I was walking home from dropping my car off to get a new tire put on.
It seemed a bit ironic that I was enjoying such things because my machine needed attention.

Colors of the Season

Things I saw as I was out and about today. The Green of that first tree and those clouds were too cool to not document - even if it was with my crap-ass phone.

Something from My Day

Something from my friend Erin Clarks backyard. I was out there appreciating the day and just thought it looked pretty cool.

With My Head in the Clouds...

Some shots of the sky and clouds from a week or two ago. I thought they were worthy of posterity.
